How does selling online with Repaint work?
Last updated September 29, 2026
You can run a complete online store on Repaint. You describe what you sell and how you want to charge, and the AI builds the store into your website. Payments and your store’s data all run on Repaint, so there’s no separate ecommerce platform to connect.
What Repaint builds for your store
- Products. Physical goods, digital downloads, subscriptions, or whatever else you sell. Each one shows the photos, options, and details you want.
- Checkout. A checkout that’s part of your site and designed to match it, rather than a generic page somewhere else.
- Orders. Every order is saved in your workspace, so you can look up what sold, who bought it, and what still needs to go out.
- Inventory. Stock counts that update as orders come in, if you want them.
- Store emails. Order confirmations, receipts, shipping updates, and similar emails sent from your own domain.
Because the AI builds the store to fit your business, you’re not limited to a fixed template. If you need something specific, like made-to-order products, you can describe it and the AI builds it.
Most businesses selling products or services can use Repaint. Some can’t, like businesses selling illegal products or weapons. Others can’t accept payments or need extra review. Our content policy lists what isn’t allowed.
Setting up your store
Setup happens in the chat. You tell the AI what you’re selling, how you want to price it, and what the buying experience should feel like. It builds the product pages and checkout, and walks you through connecting payments.
Example prompts
“I sell handmade ceramic mugs and bowls. Add a shop to my site with a page for each product, a cart, and checkout.”
“Add a page where people can buy my recipe ebook for $15 and download the PDF right after paying.”
What you need to accept payments
- A custom domain. You’ll need to connect one to your site.
- Business verification. You’ll confirm your identity and business details. Sole proprietors can sell too.
- A bank account. This is where your payouts go.
- A supported country. Your business needs to be based in one of the supported countries.
You can do all of this during your free trial, and start taking real payments once your business is verified.
Moving from another store platform
There’s no automatic import from other store platforms, but you can bring your products over. The AI can pull product details from your existing site or from a file, like an inventory spreadsheet. Customer and order history can come over too, as long as you can export it from your old platform.
Fees, payouts, and refunds
Beyond your Repaint plan, you pay a processing fee on each payment. Card processing is 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction in the US, and rates vary by country and payment method.
Your sales are paid out to your bank account weekly once your account is approved.
You can refund an order by asking the AI or from a dashboard, and the AI can help you respond if a customer disputes a charge with their bank.
Running your store
You manage your store by chatting with the AI, the same way you built it. You can ask it to update stock, look up an order, or tell you how sales went this month. For things you check often, like orders waiting to ship, the AI can build a dashboard.
Example prompts
“How many orders did we get last week, and what were the top three products?”
“We just got 40 more of the large blue mugs in stock. Update the inventory.”
“Make me a dashboard showing orders that haven’t shipped yet, with the customer’s address and what they ordered.”
Shipping
You handle packing and shipping your orders yourself. Repaint can collect shipping charges at checkout using whatever rules you describe, such as free shipping over a certain amount. Repaint doesn’t buy or print shipping labels.
Sales tax
Repaint doesn’t calculate, collect, or file sales tax or VAT for you automatically. You’re responsible for the taxes that apply to your business. If you tell the AI which rules apply, it can add tax to your checkout.
