How do memberships and subscriptions work?
Last updated September 28, 2026
Repaint can add memberships to your website. You describe what members get and how much it costs. The AI builds the signup and checkout, member accounts, and the pages only members can see. Subscriptions renew automatically, and you can manage your members by chatting with the AI.
This works for gyms and studios, clubs, paid communities, online courses, and anything else people pay for on a recurring basis.
Subscriptions, accounts, and access
Recurring subscriptions
You can bill members monthly, yearly, or on any schedule that fits. You can offer more than one tier, and you can also sell one-time access. Members can manage or cancel their own subscription if you ask the AI to add that. Taking payments needs a custom domain and a verified business.
Member accounts and sign-in
Members get an account on your site and sign in with a password or a magic link sent to their email. Because sign-in emails go to your members, you’ll need a custom domain with email sending set up. There are no per-account fees or limits right now.
Members-only pages and content
You decide what’s locked and who can see it by describing the rules. For example, your blog can be free to read while the video library is members-only. With tiers, premium members can see everything while basic members see only part of it. Anyone without access sees whatever you choose instead, like a signup page.
Online courses
You can build a course with modules and lessons, sell access to it, and let students work through it at their own pace. The AI can also add features like progress tracking or a certificate at the end. You describe how it should work and the AI builds it.
Uploaded files, including videos, are limited to 16 MB each. For longer lesson videos, you can host them on a platform like YouTube, and the AI can embed them in your lessons.
Managing your members
You manage your members by chatting with the AI. It can answer questions about your membership, give someone access, change their plan, or send an announcement. For numbers you check often, the AI can build a dashboard. Dashboards are only visible to people in your workspace.
Bringing over existing members
If you already have members, the AI can import them from a file like a CSV export. It can then email them a link to set up their password or sign in. Existing subscriptions on another platform don’t transfer automatically.
Example prompts
“Add a membership to my yoga site. Members pay $20 a month and get access to all my class recordings and a monthly live Q&A page.”
“Create an online course called Beginner Watercolor with 6 lessons. Each lesson has a video from my YouTube channel, notes, and a mark-as-complete button. Sell it for $79.”
“Here’s a CSV of my current members. Create accounts for them and email each one a link to sign in.”
“How many active members do I have, and how many canceled last month?”
