How do customer accounts work?
Last updated September 28, 2026
Customer accounts let people sign in to your website to see things that belong to them. They're built into Repaint, so you don't need a separate login service. You describe what customers should be able to do once they're signed in, and the AI builds it.
Common uses
- Order tracking, so shoppers in your online store can see past orders and their status.
- Booking and managing appointments, so clients can book, reschedule, or cancel without contacting you.
- Client portals, where each client sees their own files and invoices.
- Member areas, with members-only pages and content.
- Online courses, so students can access their lessons and track their progress.
- Subscription management, so customers can update their payment method, change plans, or cancel.
- Saved preferences, like a saved address.
How customers sign in
Customers can sign in with a password or with a magic link, which is a one-time sign-in link sent to their email. You can offer one or both. Signing in with Google isn't available for customer accounts yet.
Customer accounts are separate from your own Repaint login. They're for the people who use your website, not for the people who build and manage it. To give someone access to your workspace instead, invite them.
To send your customers emails, like sign-in links, you'll need to connect a custom domain and set up email sending.
Managing customer accounts
Customer accounts are stored as data in your workspace. You can manage them by asking the AI, like changing what a customer has access to or closing an account. You can also have it build a dashboard for managing customers. Your customers never see your dashboards.
Controlling who sees what
You set access rules by describing them. For example, you might say that clients can only see their own projects. The AI builds those rules into your site and its data, so customers can't reach things that aren't theirs.
Adding existing customers
The AI can create accounts for you or import existing customers from a spreadsheet. After importing, it can send each person an email to set their password or sign in for the first time.
Fees and limits
There are no per-account fees and no limit on how many customer accounts you can have right now.
Example prompts
“Let customers create an account so they can see their past orders and track shipping status.”
“Build a client portal where each client signs in with a magic link and sees their own project files and invoices.”
“Import the customers in this spreadsheet as accounts and email each of them a link to set their password.”
“Only members with an active subscription should be able to see the Resources page.”
