How does sending email work?

Last updated September 28, 2026

Repaint has email sending built in, so your sites can send receipts, newsletters, and more without a separate email service. You can send email from Repaint or from your own domain. Sending from Repaint works right away, but only to people in your workspace. To email your customers, you'll need to send from your own domain.

Two ways to send email

Sending from Repaint

Emails sent from Repaint don't need any setup or a custom domain, but they can only go to members of your workspace. That works well for alerts to you or your team, like a new order or form submission.

Sending from your domain

Emails sent from your own domain can go to anyone, including your customers. That needs a custom domain connected with email sending set up. Once it's ready, you can send from any address on your domain, like hello@yourbusiness.com.

Setting up email for your domain

To send from your domain, you can ask the AI to set up email sending. Repaint gives you a few DNS records to add at your domain provider. These records prove to inbox providers that Repaint is allowed to send for your domain, which helps your emails land in the inbox instead of spam. They're usually called SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.

If your domain is already connected for your website, you just add the email records alongside the existing ones. The AI can walk you through where to add them and check when they're working.

Sending and tracking email

You can send both kinds of email through Repaint:

  • Transactional email, sent automatically because of something a person did, like an order receipt or booking reminder.
  • Marketing email, like newsletters and promotions sent to people who've signed up to hear from you.

Marketing emails must include an unsubscribe link, which the AI adds for you, and anyone who unsubscribes stops getting them. People who opt out will still get transactional emails like receipts, since those relate to something they did.

Checking delivery and spam complaints

You can ask the AI how your emails are doing, like how many bounced or whether anyone marked one as spam. You can also ask it to build a dashboard that shows your sent emails and delivery stats.

Where replies go

Repaint sends email, but it doesn't host inboxes. When someone replies to an email from your site, the reply goes to an inbox you already use, like Gmail or Outlook. You can ask the AI to set the reply-to address on any email so replies land where you want them.

Limits and policy

Monthly email limits

Each plan includes a number of emails per month for your workspace:

  • Plus: 5,000 emails per month
  • Pro: 50,000 emails per month
  • Max: 250,000 emails per month

The free trial has the same email limit as Plus. If you need to send more, you can upgrade your plan. If you need more than Max includes, you can contact support about higher limits.

Email policy

You can only email people who've agreed to hear from you. That means customers who bought from you or booked with you, and people who signed up for your newsletter. Cold outreach and purchased or scraped lists aren't allowed.

If your emails get a high rate of spam complaints or bounces, we'll contact you to fix it. If it continues, we may pause email sending for your workspace until it's resolved. Our content policy covers the rest of our rules.
