Why isn't my imported site correct?

Last updated June 3, 2026

When you import a site, Repaint recreates it by looking at your pages and rebuilding them, rather than copying the original files. Because it's reverse-engineering your site, some details usually get lost in translation. That's expected, not a sign anything is broken, and most issues are quick to fix.

A few common reasons an import looks off or incomplete:

  • Small visual differences. Repaint rebuilds your layout from what it can see, so spacing, fonts, and details can come out slightly different from the original.
  • Missing animations or effects. It's hard for Repaint to carry over anything it can't see in a static view, like animations or hover effects.
  • Missing forms or logins. Interactive systems like contact forms, logins, and checkout don't transfer, because they rely on backends Repaint isn't connected to.

Most of these are a quick fix. If you tell Repaint about the specific problem you can see, it can usually fix it on the first try. The same goes for anything you want to change or improve from the original, since your imported site is a starting point you can edit like any other.
