How to edit your site

Last updated June 3, 2026

There are two ways to edit a Repaint site: chatting with AI, or editing directly. Most edits happen through chat. You describe a change in plain language and the AI applies it. You can edit anything like this, including the design, text, links, pages, and images.

Editing with AI

You can make almost all your updates by chatting with AI. A typical edit looks like this:

  1. Find something to change. Spot an issue or an improvement you want to make on your site.
  2. Tell Repaint what to do. Describe the change in the chat input, including what's wrong now and what you want instead.
  3. Wait for the update. Repaint makes the change and the preview refreshes automatically when it's done.
  4. Review the result. Review what Repaint changed. If it's not quite right, explain how Repaint messed up so it can try again.

Almost anything is possible through chat, from tiny tweaks to a full redesign: changing text, adding pages, swapping images, restyling sections, and redesigning your whole site.

AI editing is powerful because you can make complex and sweeping changes just by asking. You should use the AI chat for everything except precise edits you can do by hand. Here's what some of these edits might look like:

Change text

Reword the homepage headline to be shorter and punchier.

Add a page

Add a Pricing page with three tiers and a short description of each.

Swap an image

Replace the hero image with something brighter and more colorful.

Restyle a section

Make the testimonial section a carousel with arrow buttons.

Redesign your site

Redesign the whole site in a minimal black-and-white style.

Editing text and images directly

When you know exactly what you want, like fixing a typo or replacing a specific image, you can edit directly on the page instead of using chat. When you click "Edit Page," it turns into two buttons: "Save Changes" and "Discard Changes." Once you save, Repaint applies your direct edits to your site like any other change.

Editing text

  1. Click "Edit Page" in the top bar.
  2. Click any text on your site and type your new content.
  3. Make any other changes you want on the page.
  4. Click "Save Changes" in the top bar.

Replacing an image

  1. Click "Edit Page" in the top bar.
  2. Click the image you want to replace.
  3. Click the upload icon in the popup that appears over it.
  4. Choose a new image and submit it in the file manager.
  5. Click "Save Changes" in the top bar.

How to undo a change

The easiest way to undo a change is to ask the AI. Tell it to undo in the chat, and Repaint reverts your most recent change.

Every change is also saved as its own version, so you can go back to a specific point in time. On desktop, you can browse and restore past versions:

  1. Click the history icon in the top bar.
  2. Click a past version to preview it.
  3. In the popup near the bottom, click "Restore this version" to bring it back, or "Back to current site" to cancel.

How to publish your changes

All of your edits show up in your site preview, but they don't reach your live site until you publish. When you're ready, click publish in the top right corner, and your live site updates to your latest version. For more, see publishing and unpublishing your site.
