How to publish and unpublish your site
Last updated June 3, 2026
Repaint doesn't just build your website, it also hosts it for you, so there's no separate hosting provider to set up. Publishing is the step that takes your finished site live, putting it online at your own web address for anyone to visit.
What publishing does
While you build your site in Repaint, you're working on a private draft. Only you can see it. Think of it as a working copy that lives inside the editor, not something that's on the internet yet.
Publishing takes that draft and puts a public copy online at your web address, so anyone with the link can visit it. Until you publish, your site isn't live and no one else can find it. Each time you publish again, Repaint updates the public copy to match your latest draft.
That web address is your domain, the thing people type into their browser to reach your site. When you first publish, Repaint gives you a free address on sites.repaint.com. If you own a domain like yoursite.com, you can connect it so your published site lives there instead.
How to publish your site
Click the publish button in the top right corner. A popup opens where you confirm and publish your site, and your latest version goes online.
The first time you publish, Repaint gives your site a free web address on sites.repaint.com. You won't have a web address until that first publish. From there, you can customize your subdomain or connect a custom domain you own.
The AI can also publish for you. Just ask it to publish, and it puts your latest version live. It won't publish on its own, though, so your draft stays private until you decide to.
Republishing after edits
Every edit you make creates a new version of your site, saved as a draft. Those changes live in your draft only, not on your live site. To make them public, you publish again, which replaces the live version with your latest one. If you're wondering why a change isn't showing up online, you most likely just need to publish.
Unpublishing your site
To take your site offline, ask the AI to unpublish it, and it takes your site down. You can bring it back anytime by publishing again, either from the publish button or by asking the AI.
