How to publish and unpublish your site

You can publish a site by clicking the publish button in the top right, or by asking the AI to publish it. Asking the AI works well because it can check that everything is ready first.

What publishing does

As you build, your changes show up in your preview right away, but visitors don't see them yet. When you publish, your latest version goes live at your web address.

Anyone in your workspace can see your latest changes right away, even before they're published.

If you're wondering why a change isn't showing up on your live site, you most likely just need to publish again.

Your web address

Every site gets a free Repaint address, so you can publish and share it without owning a domain. You can change that subdomain by asking the AI, or connect a custom domain you own, like yoursite.com.

Testing forms and payments

Publishing only controls which version of your pages visitors see. The data your site stores is always live, even while you're working on unpublished changes. That includes form submissions, customer accounts, orders, and payments.

That means testing these features is real. Submitting a form saves a real submission, and emails and payments really go out. The AI knows this and handles your data carefully. It's still a good idea to ask it to help you test new features safely before you rely on them.

Unpublishing your site

To take a site offline, you can ask the AI to unpublish it. Visitors will no longer be able to reach it. Your work stays saved in your workspace, and you can bring the site back anytime by publishing again.

When sites go offline

If your workspace is paused, all of its sites go offline until the workspace is reactivated. This can happen after a trial ends or a plan is canceled.
