How to customize your Repaint subdomain

When you publish a site, Repaint gives it a free address on sites.repaint.com. It starts as a random name, but you can change it to something cleaner that fits your business. The easiest way is to ask the AI, which can do it for you end to end.
What your subdomain is
Your subdomain is the part of your address before sites.repaint.com. When you first publish, Repaint gives you a random one like quick-fox-1234.sites.repaint.com. Customizing it lets you swap that random name for something readable, like yourbusiness.sites.repaint.com.
This is different from a custom domain, which is your own web address like yoursite.com. A subdomain still lives on sites.repaint.com and is free on every plan, including the free plan. How to customize your subdomain
The simplest way to change your subdomain is to ask the AI in the chat. Tell it what you'd like your address to be, and it updates it for you. You can set your subdomain anytime, but it only leads somewhere once your site is published. Until then, there's nothing live at the address for visitors to see.

You can also do it yourself in your site settings. Open the domains tab and click edit next to your free subdomain to enter a new one.
Either way, the change applies instantly, and you can change it as often as you like. Your site only keeps one subdomain at a time, so claiming a new one replaces the old address.
Choosing a subdomain
A subdomain can use letters, numbers, and hyphens, the same as a normal web address. Beyond that, the main thing to know is that subdomains have to be unique. Every site on sites.repaint.com needs its own, so the name you want may already be taken.
If you try to claim one that's in use, Repaint won't let you take it, and you'll need to pick a different name. The AI can suggest available options if you're stuck, or just want ideas for a good one.
