How to go back to a previous version

Last updated June 3, 2026

Every change you make is automatically saved as its own version, so you can always go back, no matter how many edits you've made. There are two ways to do it: ask the AI, or restore a version yourself.

Ask the AI

The easiest way to go back is to ask the AI in the chat. Repaint has tools to set your site to any earlier version, so it can revert changes easily, no matter how big they were. You can undo your last change or roll back several at once just by describing it.

Undo the last change

Undo that last change.

Roll back further

Go back to how the homepage looked before the redesign.

This works anywhere, including on mobile.

Restore a version yourself

On desktop, you can also browse your past versions and restore one directly:

  1. Click the history icon in the top bar.
  2. Click a past version to preview it.
  3. In the popup near the bottom, click "Restore this version" to bring it back, or "Back to current site" to cancel.

Restoring a version is just like any other change. It updates your draft, and your live site stays the same until you publish.
